Reiji Samuels & his wife live in a larger house with motors, air conditioners, and fridges running 24/7, so their bills are at an average of RM 1,800 to RM1,900 a month with people at home all the time during the pandemic. Therefore they started to look for solutions to lower the cost of their electricity bills. They thought about installing solar panels at first, but had the perceived perception that solar panels would be very expensive. After seeing the way the bills kept piling up (their bills were RM 1,300 per month even when there’s hardly anyone in the house), they finally decided to actually look into it and did research on solar panel costs. They did a simple Google search and reached out to multiple companies, and Verdant was the first one to get back, while the others took 2-3 weeks.

Solutions
The sales representatives at Verdant were able to quickly give an estimation of costs and gave them a few options that might suit their needs. This came in handy for the Samuels as they were able to easily and quickly make a decision to proceed with the installation. Due to the pandemic at the time, the inverter was stuck at customs for 3 months. So during that time, the Verdant team made sure to have everything else prepared (such as the wiring, installation of the brackets and panels). Once the inverter came, the installation was swift and everything went on the rooftop smoothly.
Results
Turns out, installing solar panels was a win-win situation for them as it was renewable energy, plus it helped with the bill reduction as it reduced around 40% – 50% of what it originally cost. During some days when the sun was up all day, they could even get a reduction of more than half. With the smartphone application, Mr Reiji was able to monitor the system’s consumption and his credit back to TnB. Mr & Mrs Samuels were very passionate about being environmentally friendly, therefore they were very satisfied with their experience with Verdant Solar and their solar home. They have been recommending solar homes to their friends and family.
